What did you expect Cardi B to wear while pregnant? Classic LBDs? Form-fitting long coats like Kate Middleton? Nope.
This is 25-year-old rapper Belcalis Almanzar we’re talking about, and when it comes to her style, the Invasion of Privacy superstar knows how to get ‘em talking. That’s exactly what she did over the weekend when she took to the Saturday Night Live stage to surprise fans with her pregnancy announcement. She’s expecting her first child with fiancé and Migos rapper Offset.
And that’s exactly what she did once again on Monday, when she came to tell the world that her maternity style will be no joke. The white custom Christian Siriano dress she wore for her now unforgettable SNL moment was of course angelic. But for her latest look, she turned to Laurence & Chico for a denim-on-denim look that’s nothing like the Canadian tuxedo.
Instead, the two-piece set featured a ruffled button-up shirt that she paired with a super see-through pearl-adorned pair of shorts and Alexander Wang denim booties (shop similar here).
Cardi has made headlines this week not just for her pregnancy news, but also for her debut album and the celebrity support she’s been receiving. In a new interview with GQ, she also candidly talked about her body—and yes, her illegal butt injections. “When I was 21, I did not have enough meat on my body—if I was to get lipo, I wouldn’t have fat for my ass,” she said, talking about how she transformed her shape roughly four years ago when she worked as a stripper.
In the interview, she reveals she wanted a bigger butt as revenge on a boyfriend, who cheated on her with someone with a “fat, big ass,” not to mention that her stripper colleagues also had bit butts. The story doesn’t end there. Cardi actually got her butt injections for $800 in an apartment in Queens.
“They don’t numb your ass with anything,” she said. “It was the craziest pain ever. I felt like I was gonna pass out. I felt a little dizzy. And it leaks for, like, five days.” As if that weren’t enough, she wanted to return to get the shape she really wanted, though she was pleased with the results. “But by the time I was gonna go get it, the lady got locked up ‘cause she’s supposedly killed somebody. Well—” she said, adding, “somebody died on her table.”
